Course 2

Advanced .Course 2.

This course will run again in 2011 starting as usual in January . Dates for the 2011 course will be posted in September 2010.  It will run alongside Course 3 which will be the second occasion C3 will have run .

ImageThe greatest frustration expressed by experienced yoga teachers is lack of knowledge and UNDERSTANDING. Why does the student with depression have difficulty in back bending postures? What do you do with the person who claims to have a “ slipped disc”—what exactly is it? What postures should be avoided if you have spondylosis? The questions that the principal tutors for this course have been asked over decades of running workshops are numerous and expose a deep frustration with inadequate knowledge. The science of yoga is poorly understood and teachers are regularly unable to help those in real need because of this inadequacy.

The course tutors bring to this course a UNIQUE body of knowledge acquired by treating over 10,000 patients and teaching yoga to over 6,000. The course will enable the experienced teacher to make a giant leap in knowledge and confidence.

Detailed knowledge of such conditions as intervertebral disc rupture , spondylosis and spondylitis, frozen shoulder will be given. You will be able to learn how to handle the difficult students with confidence.

The course runs over one year and involves attendance at 10 one day workshops. The first 5 workshops provide the groundwork , with detailed knowledge of conditions that afflict the human being , both mental, spiritual and physical. The remainder will provide the opportunity for lots of hands-on work on people suffering a wide range of conditions.

The course is very practical and will include time for detailed examination of issues, the chance to delve deeply to ensure a deep understanding of how and why things go wrong. There will be a strong concentration upon the science of yoga but we always bring this back to the spiritual and mental origins of most conditions

There will be a course manual detailing those elements that can easily be transmitted by the written word, with the workshops being essentially reserved for that which is difficult to contain in the written word.

Experienced teachers will be accepted but we will consider those who can demonstrate an intense interest is the how and the why of yoga, as it applies to the teaching of people who are challenged physically.

We shall also cover such diseases as multiple sclerosis , Parkinsonianism , and heart disease and how yoga assists the sufferer.

Any student of yoga who is keen to understand more about how and why the system works so well, can attend the ARYTTC workshops on an adhoc basis. Certification, of course, will only be given to those who have completed all the workshops and have demonstrated an acceptable level of understanding but you are free to attend for interest and pay for that those you attend. For the most value it is essential to attend the first couple of sessions
